Getting Your SEO Started: SEO Training is probably the best way to ...

Internet and Businesses Online September 8th. 2011, 5:34am

SEO isn?t rocket science, although many people, particularly less-ethical SEO consultants, may have you believing otherwise ? the important thing to remember about SEO is that even the world?s foremost professionals in SEO are typically self-taught; they have learned in their own time and through a great deal of study into how search engines actually work.

If you?re just starting out with SEO however, and if you?re about to attend an SEO training course, then you should probably have a solid handle on what the basics are, or rather the things you should be doing on a monthly basis to make sure your campaign runs smoothly.

The first thing you need to do is separate out your activity between on-page, on-site and off-site. By far and away the most crucial aspect of SEO comes in the form of off-site activity, or rather the influence you have over your visibility in search which isn?t a result of making tweaks to your website.

Off-Site activity is predominantly concentrated around link building, that is building links to your website. It?s also concerned with anchor text optimisation or rather optimising the text you find in a link around your main target terms.

In terms of on-site and on-page activity, the main thing you need to focus on is accessibility or rather making sure all of your pages fall no more than five clicks away from your homepage ? it?s also important to avoid duplicating content on your website (or on external websites). Finally, if you are to do much in the way of on-page optimisation, then the page title is your most heavily weighted on-page factor, and the factor you should pay most attention to.?
