After announcing he was transferring from Texas Tech,?Jacob Karam had whittled his potential destinations down to three Conference USA schools ? Houston, Memphis and UTEP.
Two weeks later, that list has officially been whittled down to one.
Speaking to the Memphis Commercial Appeal, the quarterback confirmed that he will be transferring to Memphis and continue his collegiate playing career with the Tigers. ?As Karam has already graduated from Tech, he will be eligible to play immediately and have two years of eligibility remaining. ?Karam will start classes at the school later this week, and will participate in spring practice, which for the Tigers is set to commence in late February.
The redshirt sophomore said the presence of new U of M head coach Justin Fuente was the primary factor in his decision to move on from the Red Raiders to the Tigers..
?The facilities are nice; they exceeded my expectations,? Karam said. ?The weight room is nice; it exceeded my expectations. But what sold me were the people, and it starts with coach Fuente and his staff. ?
?What I like is the people here are genuine. And they are hungry for a winner. I?m going to give it to them.?
In five games last season, Karam?completed 9-of-17 passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns.
