I Hate The Teens/kids Of Today?

I am a teen, but i know i will sound like a jerk or horrible, but i am different along with my cousin. All teens now are copy cats, they want everything everybody else has. I hate when teens have ipads, and those stuff. Those are for showing off, or for those who cant grab a fcking book and read. They are helpful for adults and that but shiit!! Kids and teens of nowadays prefer watching T.V. or hanging at the computer for hours, but i?d rather go have some walk with my cousin around the corner. I hate that 9 year olds have blackberries or ipads, they are a waste of money. If i had that amount of money, instead i would buy a my some cool striped shirt i like, or a cd, or waste it on some useful thing. I hate that all teens have Toms, because everyone else has, i wear my converse because they are cool and they show my punk/cold personality. Im so sad i can only share these feelings with my cousin :( My school are changing books to ipads and i would like to yell at the school administration. I hate teens, they are all lazy and kids are so violent and all want to play ps3 or whatever they play. I play guitar and my cousin plays keyboard. We hear music, we build up puzzles and chat of the old good times. I know i sound like a jerk but i just wanted to express this.

Mike Daisey Says His Show Is ?True? Even If It?s Not True

mike daiseyThe episode and transcript of the This American Life episode retracting Mike Daisey's piece about Apple and Foxconn are now live. If this is an issue you care about, you should listen to the whole thing. As host Ira Glass announced yesterday, the show found "significant fabrications" in the story, to the point where "we can?t vouch for its truth." For example, Daisey admits that he never met a worker who had been poisoned by n-hexane, as he claimed in the episode (which was a version of his one-man show "The Agony and Ecstasy of Steve Jobs.") Many other aspects of Daisey's account, like his meeting with allegedly underage Foxconn workers, were also disputed by his translator, although Daisey still says that they happened. ?In a blog post, Daisey says he stands by his work, but he regrets allowing TAL to excerpt the show because it's "not journalism."

Unfit, overweight UK cops could be sacked

By msnbc.com news services

British police officers must prove their fitness in annual tests or have their pay docked after a survey found that 53 percent were overweight and one in 100 was morbidly obese, a review concluded Thursday.

The government-commissioned report into police pay and conditions suggested that officers who failed a fitness test three times should be disciplined and could lose 8 percent of their salary, as much as $4,700 for some.

The report follows a survey of more than 11,500 staff on London's police force, which found that 44 percent were overweight, 19 percent obese and 1 percent morbidly obese, the report said.

The review, which comes as the government seeks to make cuts of some 20 percent to police budgets as part of austerity measures, recommended other wide-ranging changes which would allow officers to be sacked, cut starting salaries, raise the pension age and require staff to have better qualifications.

Tom Winsor, who led the 18-month review, told the Daily Mirror that fitness, qualifications, skills and experience should all be at the heart of the police pay system in future.

"Running after a suspect, or apprehending a violent or disturbed person, requires physical fitness and strength," Winsor told the British paper. "All officers need to be physically fit enough to do their jobs."

According to the Mirror, Winsor said even chief constables should face the tests, pointing to how senior officers led their officers during the riots in several English cities last summer.

The proposals, while generally welcomed by chief constables, have not gone down well with ordinary officers who are facing pay freezes, higher pension contributions and a cut in numbers.

"Police officers have had enough of the constant state of uncertainty and the deliberate, sustained attack on them by this government," said Paul McKeever, Chairman of Police Federation of England and Wales.

"The service cannot take any more; enough is enough."

But Winsor told the Mirror the public will be surprised to learn that after passing a fitness test at the point of entry, physical fitness is not tested again for most officers, whose careers can sometimes span decades.

Reuters contributed to this report.

D'Antoni's departure a stunning end in New York

NEW YORK (AP) ? Mike D'Antoni waited nearly four years before he could re-create the high-octane success he had in Phoenix, and for three exhilarating weeks in February, the New York Knicks were the NBA's team to watch.

They played fast and fun, sharing the ball and sharing laughs, and their coach enjoyed the ride as much as anyone.

Just as quickly, it was gone again. And now, so too is D'Antoni, a casualty of the forces generated by a mercurial owner perpetually rebuilding the roster, the caprice of a star player and the heightened expectations of a fan base desperate for a winner.

He resigned Wednesday, a stunning finish for a coach who only a month earlier seemed rejuvenated by Jeremy Lin.

"Nobody saw it coming," said Carmelo Anthony, the star who was sidelined when Lin emerged and seemed unlikely to ever mesh with him the way D'Antoni wanted after he returned.

That meant Linsanity couldn't last, and D'Antoni may have realized it first.

Lin had come from the end of the bench to play so well that D'Antoni would compare him to Suns star Steve Nash, who ran his wide-open offense better than anyone. The undrafted Harvard point guard outplayed Kobe Bryant one night, toppled the champion Dallas Mavericks another, and D'Antoni had that feeling again that his team could outscore anyone.

"You know what, I think at that point in time we started to play well and he started to build on that offense," forward Amare Stoudemire said.

The Knicks won seven straight, leading newscasts on a nightly basis for the first time in memory.

But D'Antoni also had the same fear as many fans. He knew Anthony would soon be back from injury, and his vision of beautiful basketball would stop.

And when that happened, followed by reports of the friction it created between the coach and star, D'Antoni decided it was time to walk away.

"He had a certain ideal of a system we were supposed to implement," said Stoudemire, who also played for D'Antoni in Phoenix. "We all didn't quite buy into it, and he got frustrated and I think that's why he took his way out."

His departure may have been hardest on Lin, who was barely hanging on to an NBA job before D'Antoni's schemes catapulted him onto two straight Sports Illustrated covers and TV screens around the world.

"Obviously, I miss him a lot," Lin said after the Knicks' 121-79 victory over Portland under interim coach Mike Woodson. "What he did for me and my career, I'm not going to forget. I'm not going to forget what he did for me personally. Just very emotional and sad to see him go. I owe a lot to him."

Minutes after he spoke, it was clear the same affection didn't exist between D'Antoni and Anthony.

D'Antoni communicated with some players via phone or text message Wednesday afternoon, but Anthony said he hadn't talked to him since a brief conversation when D'Antoni ran the Knicks' morning workout. He acknowledged the sacrifice it took for him to play in D'Antoni's system, where he didn't get the ball as much as he wanted, but denied having any role in the coach's resignation.

"I didn't have anything to do with that. That was Coach's decision," Anthony said. "I really don't know where his mindset was at, what he thought, what he was thinking as far as his decision to step down. So anything about me and Mike, you guys who probably know Mike personally, anything like that, he will tell you we never had any issues. Any disagreements that he had with us as a team, we talked it out and went from there."

D'Antoni was a coaching star in Phoenix, averaging 58 wins in four full years. He got a big contract to come to the big city, but rarely much chance to compete. He sat through two years of rebuilding and too many trades that halted momentum while failing to deliver the type of roster he craved, and interim general manager Glen Grunwald admitted D'Antoni had a "rough go of it" in New York.

Still, the Knicks went 42-40 last season to make the playoffs with their first winning record in a decade, and they were a basketball story again after years of mostly being in the headlines for all the wrong reasons during Isiah Thomas' tenure.

D'Antoni relished being relevant again, his easygoing personality and quick wit returning as the success of Lin and the team brought more media attention. He joked one day after meeting with the large Asian contingent that came to cover the NBA's first American-born player of Chinese or Taiwanese descent that he felt like he was opening for the Beatles.

But with the Knicks mired in a six-game losing streak, his final days brought back the way it was before his arrival. Anthony wanted a trade and D'Antoni had lost the support of players, according to two of the stories based on anonymous sources that appeared Wednesday morning.

Perhaps that's when D'Antoni made his decision. He wasn't able to turn the Knicks into a regular winner again and seemed unlikely to return anyway, with his $24 million, four-year contract set to expire this summer.

"I think in life there are times where change could be for the better," Anthony said. "This is an unfortunate situation for Coach Mike, but sometimes something will just spark off for guys to wake up and say, 'OK, something is real right here and we got to change.' Obviously, I'm not speaking for Coach, but that's how he felt. He stepped down for the sake of the team. He felt like the team needed change and he did that. I wish it was under better circumstances, but at this point it is what it is."

Madonna Releases "Superstar" Sneak Preview, Lourdes Leon Provides Backing Vocals!

A minute-long snippet from Madonna's upcoming single "Superstar," has been released, and may be the most interesting preview from her new album MDNA so far.

Thanks in very large part to her partner in song: Daughter, Lourdes Leon.

Madonna's 15-year-old girl is growing up fast, contributing background vocals for her famous mom's new tune. Take a listen below and see if you can pick her out:

Madonna - Superstar (Sneak Preview)

Rather than just serving as a PR-worthy, superfluous addition to the song, Lourdes' involvement is more of a fun (and sentimental) collaboration with mom.

After all, the tune, "Superstar," is a followup of sorts to "Little Star," the 1998 single Madonna penned in honor of her daughter. How time flies, right?

What do you think of the track? Share your comments with us below.

Spring break ritual could lead to brain damage

ScienceDaily (Mar. 12, 2012) ? Every year, thousands of teens and young adults celebrate Spring Break by drinking large amounts of alcohol -- binge drinking -- a dangerous right-of-passage for some and one linked to possible brain damage later as adults, says an expert.

While young people still make the final choice to drink or abstain, parents play a vital role in helping them make healthy decisions, says Dr. Alicia Ann Kowalchuk, medical director, Harris County Hospital District's InSight, an early alcohol and drug intervention program, and assistant professor, Department of Family and Community Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine.

Binge drinking, defined as the consumption of four alcoholic drinks by males or three drinks by females in a day, could be a sign of alcohol dependency or addiction. Because the brain continues to develop through age 25, alcohol use, particularly episodes of binge drinking, severely affects the prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain responsible for impulse control and decision making, she says.

"The developmental delay of this area of the brain caused by binge drinking can make it hard for young people to later as adults make healthy choices about acceptable alcohol use and impulse control, some being more prone to alcohol abuse and addiction," Kowalchuk says.

Amounts for one standard drink are:

? 12 ounces of regular beer, ale or malt liquor

? 1.5 ounces or one "shot" of 80-proof whiskey, gin or vodka

? 5 ounces of wine

? 12 ounces of wine cooler

? 4 ounces of sherry, liqueur or aperitif

In the U.S., alcohol use is high among young people. Unfortunately, some teenagers and young adults use occasions like Spring Break to drink in excess, suffering alcohol poisoning or other health-related issues. Law enforcement agencies cite alcohol as a contributing factor in more than 50 percent of all suicide, homicide and motor vehicle accident cases involving young people.

"Alcohol impairs good judgment and exposes teens and young adults to make irrational decisions like drinking and driving, riding with someone who's been drinking, engaging in unintended or unprotected sex or committing criminal activities," Kowalchuk says.

She urges parents to have frank and consistent talks with their children early in life about the dangers of alcohol.

"If they hear anything that sounds middle of road, they hear 'yes to drinking.' Any ambiguity as a parent will be interpreted as an approval for drinking. The clear message needs to be that alcohol is not acceptable because it's not safe or good for your developing brain," she says.

Parents who waiver even slightly tend to lose credibility.

"Some parents will debate that maybe it's better to have your children drink at home. They reason that by providing the alcohol, they can control what their teens are drinking and where. However, it's only a false sense of security. In reality, it's the opposite," Kowalchuk says.

Research has shown that lenient drinking attitudes at home tend to lead to higher drinking rates.

"They hear the implicit approval of their drinking, and even if you control the alcohol use while they're with you, they're that much more likely than their peers in non-permitting homes to drink more when unsupervised and not around their parents," she says.

3D-Printer with Nano-Precision

ScienceDaily (Mar. 12, 2012) ? Printing three dimensional objects with incredibly fine details is now possible using "two-photon lithography." With this technology, tiny structures on a nanometer scale can be fabricated. Researchers at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Vienna) have now made a major breakthrough in speeding up this printing technique: The high-precision-3D-printer at TU Vienna is orders of magnitude faster than similar devices. This opens up completely new areas of application, such as in medicine.

Setting a New World Record

The 3D printer uses a liquid resin, which is hardened at precisely the correct spots by a focused laser beam. The focal point of the laser beam is guided through the resin by movable mirrors and leaves behind a hardened line of solid polymer, just a few hundred nanometers wide. This fine resolution enables the creation of intricately structured sculptures as tiny as a grain of sand. "Until now, this technique used to be quite slow," says Professor J?rgen Stampfl from the Institute of Materials Science and Technology at the TU Vienna. "The printing speed used to be measured in millimeters per second -- our device can do five meters in one second." In two-photon lithography, this is a world record.

This amazing progress was made possible by combining several new ideas. "It was crucial to improve the steering mechanism of the mirrors," says Jan Torgersen (TU Vienna). The mirrors are continuously in motion during the printing process. The acceleration and deceleration-periods have to be tuned very precisely to achieve high-resolution results at a record-breaking speed.

Photoactive Molecules Harden the Resin

3D-printing is not all about mechanics -- chemists had a crucial role to play in this project too. "The resin contains molecules, which are activated by the laser light. They induce a chain reaction in other components of the resin, so-called monomers, and turn them into a solid," says Jan Torgersen. These initiator molecules are only activated if they absorb two photons of the laser beam at once -- and this only happens in the very center of the laser beam, where the intensity is highest. In contrast to conventional 3D-printing techniques, solid material can be created anywhere within the liquid resin rather than on top of the previously created layer only. Therefore, the working surface does not have to be specially prepared before the next layer can be produced, which saves a lot of time. A team of chemists led by Professor Robert Liska (TU Vienna) developed the suitable ingredients for this special resin.

Researchers all over the world are working on 3D printers today -- at universities as well as in industry. Because of the dramatically increased speed, much larger objects can now be created in a given period of time. This makes two-photon-lithography an interesting technique for industry.

At the TU Vienna, scientists are now developing bio-compatible resins for medical applications. They can be used to create scaffolds to which living cells can attach themselves facilitating the systematic creation of biological tissues. The 3d printer could also be used to create tailor made construction parts for biomedical technology or nanotechnology.

Everywhere concerning one trillion and one.five trillion equivalent United states of america bucks are traded around the Currency trading current market each and every and each and every day.

So fairly than manual you by way of a structured web page with much more specifics as a result of several sections; they usually make use of this pitch web page and so they frequently pack it with info plus a ton of difficult offering. It has confirmed for being the pattern and it is gotten tougher and tougher for many EAs to marketplace their program with no these kinds of pitch pages. It is actually generally the situation with electronic products and solutions and or/stuff you could get on line. In regards to these make-money-online and Fx web-sites they generally use a large amount of flash to them and certainly several points to draw clients in. In fact it is really not a lot distinctive from almost every other kind of promotion, most unquestionably not the likes of other financial systems, and so forth. They should have some kind of attractiveness and be aggressive. My summary is even though it seems like it may be a rip-off, do your research in any case and it could not be. It just is dependent. Some factors are indicators, but in my view website design and style and tricky promoting are usually not immediate symptoms of the fraud.

While while in the Currency trading Promote a little something to hope for could be charts and evidence.

Most currency trading possibilities buying and selling is done through phone as you?ll find only some forex trading brokers presenting on the net forex trading selection investing platforms.

Currency trading Selection Defined ? A currency trading alternative can be a money currency agreement supplying the fx choice purchaser the correct, although not the obligation, to invest in or provide a certain fx spot agreement (the fundamental) in a particular rate (the strike price tag) on or just before a particular date (the expiration date). The total the foreign exchange alternative customer pays for the forex trading selection seller for your currency trading solution agreement legal rights is referred to as the fx selection ?premium.?

The Fx Choice Customer ? The customer, or holder, of the foreign currency choice has the preference to possibly promote the foreign currency solution agreement before expiration, or she or he can elect to maintain the foreign currency choices agreement right up until expiration and physical exercise her or his appropriate to acquire a placement within the fundamental spot foreign currency. The act of doing exercises the foreign currency solution and using the subsequent fundamental placement during the foreign currency spot promote is called ?assignment? or getting ?assigned? a spot situation.

As I reported higher than, the foreign exchange buying and selling is regarded as one of many most prosperous and eye-catching options for expense as any particular person can effortlessly do at your house or business office and from any section of the entire world.

For succeeding the Foreign currency trading, someone is just not needed to carry out any on line marketing, promoting and so on. The one prerequisite from the Fx trading is definitely the account that somebody is needed to open up with trustworthy and registered brokers, a pc method and quick net relationship.

Now, you have got to generally be very careful when opening a Forex trading account with any broker for the reason that some may very well be Rip-off. The Commodity Futures Buying and selling Commission (CFTC) in US has jurisdiction above all Futures and Foreign exchange exercise. When buying and selling inside the foreign exchange markets, folks need to only trade which has a CFTC registered entity that is definitely also a member of your Nationwide Futures Association (NFA) and is also controlled by CFTC. For non-US broker/ financial institution entities, make sure which the broker or financial institution is registered with that country?s acceptable regulatory bodies.

The simple most evident reply is certainly ? over the internet! On the web currency trading presents you immediate entry for the forex trading marketplace and there is quite a lot and plenty of firms on the market who?re in organization only to offer with you on line. Be vigilant, do expend time for getting some great currency trading education and learning, yet again this may be given on the internet and create your dummy account to trade in advance of you try and go are living. MARY READY: Church makes the best comedy club

Some Christians take church way too seriously. They forget God loves a good joke. Otherwise, He wouldn?t have created the platypus or Rush Limbaugh.

Even His word tells us in Proverbs 17:22 ?A merry heart doeth good, like medicine.? The secular version is ?Laughter is the best medicine.? People who love to quote this advice don?t often think about the rest of the sentence, ?but a depressed spirit dries up the bones.? A congregation of dusty, dry bones misrepresents the joy that should be an integral feature of salvation.

But, OK, enough sermonizing.

My favorite church joke is the one involving St. Peter showing a new citizen around heaven. When they pass the mansions of the Baptists (or fill in any denomination as you wish), he tells the newcomer, ?Be very quiet passing through this area. They think they?re the only ones up here.?

My point is that religion as a punch line is not necessarily blasphemy. And friendly, humorous disagreement among the various churches is probably a great source of?laughter up in heaven. It?s the least we humans can do, since most of the time we cause God a lot of grief. ?

Take, for instance, the story of two across-the-street churches in Kentucky. Our Lady of Martyrs Catholic Church sign proclaimed, ?All dogs go to heaven.? Almost immediately, the Presbyterian Church sign responded: ?Only humans go to heaven. Read the Bible.? Then came the Catholic retort: ?God loves all His creatures, dogs included.? The Presbyterians answered, ?Dogs don?t have souls. This is not open for debate.?? The Catholic sign then read, ?Catholic dogs do. Presbyterian dogs should talk it over with a priest.? Not to be defeated, the Presbyterian sign posted, ?Converting to Catholicism does not magically grant your dog a soul.?

The back and forth went on for some time. Although later proven to be a prank at the expense of both churches, it?s still true that religious DOGma (pun intended) can create hilarious debate. At least for the common sense observer who isn?t throwing scriptures like darts at fellow Christians.

Some of my favorite church signs:

Forgive you enemies. It messes up their heads.

Read the Bible. It will scare the Hell out of you.

Artificial Intelligence is NO Match for Natural Stupidity.

God does not believe in atheists. Therefore, atheists do not exist.

I have also been a source of laughter in God?s house.

Recently, the pastor was giving us his sermon scripture reference, accompanied by the usual sounds of Bible pages flipping all across the church. Then a deep, booming voice (like Charlton Heston?s) is heard announcing, ?The LORD said to Moses ?Say to the people, You are a stiff-necked people; if for a single moment I should go up among you, I would consume you. So now take off your ornaments, that I may know what to do with you.??

It seemed to be coming from a celestial source, but it wasn?t God. It was me. At least, it was my cell phone. Trying to be modern, I had left my Bible at home and was using my phone to access the verses from a Bible program stored in it. I inadvertently hit the speaker button and couldn?t figure out how to turn it off. I tried sitting on it, but we still heard the angry voice of God coming out from under my seat. I was just about to throw it on the floor and stomp on it when my son reached over and turned it off.

The next Sunday, as an encore, I once again made a spectacle of myself. As I walked down the center aisle to my seat, I felt a lady following close behind me. Stopping me and placing her hand on my shoulder, she said, ?Don?t turn around. Stay close to me.?

I?d been meeting and greeting with my skirt tucked up into my underwear. I had to duck out a side door to fix my wardrobe malfunction. Then, re-enter with a red face.

I don?t know how I?m going to top those two comedic performances this Sunday.

I can only hope fellow worshippers and God get a giggle out of me. It keeps my bones from drying up.

The Truth About Commercial Property Brokers ? Book Office Space ...

This article has been viewed 19 times.

Rented office space is a necessity for many small to medium businesses. But whatever the size of your company, whether you are looking for a single person office or a corporate suite, you know it makes business sense to avoid unnecessary costs.

Unfortunately, many office brokers have plans which differ from yours. If you search for ?serviced offices?, ?office space?, ?rent office space in Derby? or similar on a search engine online, you are likely to find a wealth of office broker websites which each list hundreds ? or even thousands ? of different locations of commercial property to rent. You simply enter your office space requirements on their websites, and like an estate agent, their search will list offices to rent which match your requirements.

The convenience they offer can lead to many business owners to booking office space through these commercial estate agent middlemen. But their expensive, fancy websites can hide the truth. In reality, office brokers often give business owners the worst deal with their commercial property to rent. It has been found that these businesses sometimes actually sub-hire the accommodation before letting it out on their websites at a hugely inflated price.

Often, business owners looking for commercial property to rent will use these websites to gain an understanding of the average prices of office rentals in a set area. But because of their inflated prices this can give browsers the wrong impression, and they often end up paying over the odds to rent office space in Derby or across the UK. Their salesmen also tend to be very persuasive and pressurise people into making rushed decisions about renting.

Commercial property agents dont give office space owners a good deal either. If they are not renting the property to sub-let out, they are charging office space owners a huge percentage of commission for advertising their property. Putting office space owners out of pocket in this way is not only unfair, but will often only reflect badly in the rental prices.
And, to top it off, it has been found that many of these websites do not even have offices of their own to operate from. This makes many suspicious as to how much they actually know about the office rental business. Their websites are paid to be search engine optimised so they score highly on search engines, meaning they will show above the listings by office space owners looking to let out their property. Their high rankings, in fact, say nothing about the service they offer.

Like with most forms of business, with finding and renting office space, it pays to go direct. Office space owners offer better value for money and reliability than brokers who often know very little about the properties they are selling. Spending a little extra time searching online for direct office space owners means you will find properties which provide both quality and value for money. And if you have questions, you wont receive better answers than those from the property owners themselves.

Home Improvement Techniques That are Economical

Many of us see the same surrounding on a daily basis inside our house. That is why countless home owners think that it is time for remodeling. Rearranging the furniture, going with new molding, buying the new pieces of art surface, etc; all could appear like an effortless adequate task from the commencement. However, many individuals find that they are overwhelming.

One thing that will surprise you is that a lot of people don't think about the cleanliness or you can say the lack of it which affects the overall structure and the value of their home. It is like they don't care about the various deals given by service providers like Charter Deals. This kind of negligence truly affects the residential value in many ways. Cleaning your house in a specific way does really matter. People usually use harsh chemicals when they clean their homes.

This is bad and unacceptable. Your home structure and the lives of those living in your house can be detrimentally affected in many ways.

Green cleaning methods are a great alternative that can help you to avoid these negative issues. Here are some tips that can help you get started. If paper towel is found still in your kitchen, then it means that you aren?t environment conscious. Try not to buy them again. Paper towel and the environment don't go together and you must have known the reason a long time ago. You could spend the money elsewhere. Washcloths can clean your mess as good as paper towel can. You never have to spend money to buy new ones.

There are plenty of old clothes in your closet. Seriously, they must be buried deep into the darkest corners of the closet.

You could use them as washcloths, even your old T-shirt. They can get dirty and start to smell after using them for a while, but you can wash them with your regular wash like any other clothing you have. Also it will reduce the trash and in your budget you will have extra money.

One of the worst places where you can use chemical based cleaning agents is in your bathroom. The ventilation in the bathroom is not the best, so there is no way for the chemicals to get out of the room. Instead of using chemical based cleansers, try to use vinegar, borax and baking soda as your cleaning solvents. Cleaning your bathroom this way will not put or cause harm to the air that you breath. As long as you are self-conscious, the bathroom door should be left open for some time to get rid of the steam and mildew can be cut down by running the fan at the same time.

Also if you have hard wood floor, you don't have to rely upon harsh hardwood floor cleaners. What will work is a mixture of vinegar and olive oil which you can make at your home. When you use this mixture, you can eat off the floor as it will be so clean. The mixture will vary and to know how much of each substance is needed, you will need to know what kind of wood is in the flooring.

Even furniture made of wood can be cleaned by this mixture just as well as the floor. Environmentally friendly cleaners can do the job safely, so remove the harsh chemicals from your house, before it is too late. A lot of people don't realize how much the state of their home and its value can be determined by how clean it is. Besides that the price of your home will go up when you?re cleaning methods become eco-friendly for the environment. To keep your home from falling apart, you should start keeping it clean with environmentally friendly products.

The new iPad and the new Apple

I've watched the new iPad event twice now and while they hit most of the notes most of us expected -- including the Retina display, LTE 4G networking, and iPhoto for iOS, the way in which they hit them, and some of the things they didn't hit were just as interesting. And they revealed as much about the new iPad as they did the new Apple.

How Much Do You Really Need To Retire? | WealthTrace's Blog

Who hasn?t heard a number kicked around when it comes to how much money they will need to retire comfortably? I?ve heard everything from $500,000 to $6 million. Many of our friends and even writers and pundits are simply making an educated guess or have perhaps run through the numbers in a spreadsheet.

There is a better way to quantify just how much a person or a couple will need in order to retire comfortably and not run out of money.

Let?s start with a relatively young couple that is 40 years old and plans on retiring when they are 65. I took a look at their situation using our retirement planning application. I started with these assumptions: They currently have $200,000 in investments and contribute $5,000 a year to savings. They are 75% in equities and 25% in fixed income. Equities return 5% per year and fixed income returns 2% per year. Inflation is 3% and their expenses in retirement will be $40,000 per year. They will receive a total of $25,000 in social security payments per year starting at age 65. All of their investments are in tax-deferred accounts and they assume they will both live to be 100 years old. Note that all of these numbers are in today?s dollars. Here is what I found:

Investment Value At Retirement (In Today?s Dollars) $656,000
Age When Funds Run Out 107
Investment Value At Age 100 (In Today?s Dollars) $39,856

With the assumptions we used, this couple is projected to run out of money when they are 107 years old. By age 100 when their plan ends they will have a small amount of funds left, about $40,000, in their investment accounts. So in this scenario the answer seems to be that a typical 40 year old couple will need $656,000 (in today?s dollars) to retire fairly comfortably.

Given how little is left in their investment accounts when this couple hits age 100, it is natural to ask how their funds last until age 107. The answer is social security. Their social security payments will cover over half of their expenses in retirement and this could be a major problem for people that are in this age bracket.

We all know by now that the social security trust fund won?t last too much longer using today?s rules and laws. In fact, it is projected to not be able to make full payments starting in 2036, which is coincidentally just one year before this couple retires. It is estimated that social security payments would have to be cut by 25% across the board starting in 2036 in order for the fund to maintain itself.

So what happens if social security is reduced for this couple? Let?s take a look at some scenarios:

Reduction in Social Security Age When Funds Run Out
-10% 100
-15% 96
-20% 92
-25% 91

Social security being reduced would be a serious problem for this couple. In the more dire projection of social security being cut by 25%, they would run out of money at age 91 instead of age 107, which we calculated in the base case.

If social security is indeed slashed by 25%, how much money would this couple need at retirement in order for their funds to last until age 100? After running a few iterations I found the answer to be $915,000. This is nearly $260,000 more than we thought they needed before we reduced social security.

Tough to predict variables such as the state of social security, inflation, and stock market returns make it difficult to figure out just how much people might need when they retire; hence the wildly volatile projections from different sources.

So what are people to do in today?s environment if they can?t accurately forecast how much money they will need? My opinion is that we should all be using relatively conservative assumptions for total return projections and we should not assume we will get 100% of our promised social security benefits, at least starting in 2036.

The couple I analyzed here was using relatively conservative return assumptions and we saw how much they will need if social security is reduced by 25%. So let?s assume they will in fact need $915,000 to retire. What can they do now?

Save more- This couple is relatively young and has time on its side. If they begin saving more today they will have the power of compounding working for them over many years. I found that if they double their savings per year from $5,000 to $10,000 they get more than halfway there. They would have $820,000 at retirement rather than only $656,000.

Invest for the long-run in solid dividend paying stocks- The core of my retirement portfolio is a foundation of dividend paying stocks that have had consistent dividend growth over time as well as low payout ratios and low debt. Five of the companies that make up this part of the portfolio are Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), Procter & Gamble (PG), Coca-Cola (KO), Exxon (XOM), and Sysco (SYY).

Company Div Yield 1 Yr Div
Growth Rate
5 Yr Div
Growth Rate
Payout Ratio Debt/Equity
JNJ 3.5% 9.3% 10.6% 54.0% 29.8%
PG 3.3% 9.3% 11.4% 51.0% 51.5%
KO 2.8% 7.3% 9.5% 34.0% 87.0%
XOM 2.2% 4.8% 8.8% 22.0% 10.3%
SYY 3.6% 4.0% 9.3% 40.0% 55.8%

Besides having in common their relatively strong dividend yields and growth rates, these companies have also shown a commitment over long periods of time to keep growing their dividends. Over time, consistent dividend growth will lead to solid total returns even if stock prices fall during the investing period.? By finding great companies who increase their dividends over time, I believe this couple can raise their annual total return on equities from 5% to 7%. If they can do this, their investments will total a little over $1 million when they retire, which gives them the buffer they need to retire comfortably and not run out of money until well after they are 100 years old.

Before thinking about strategies on how to extend your money in retirement and retire comfortably, all of us need to think about the potential issues out there that might trip us up in our projections. ?The world has changed and there are more things to take into account when planning for retirement. But it can be done and those who prepare for the future without using extremely rosy projections will be better off for it.

President Obama lords Twitter followers over Aziz Ansari

By Helen A.S. Popkin

?

Actor/comedian Aziz Ansari ? the guy who plays "Tom" on "Parks and Recreation" ? knows from social media. If you've ever seen his standup bit about harassing his little cousin Harris on Facebook?? you'd remember because it would be that 15 minutes of your life where you couldn't breathe because you were laughing so hard ? you know what I'm talking about.

That didn't stop President Barack Obama from issuing a Twitter smackdown on Ansari at a fundraiser last week in New York City, where the comedian was present.?Easing into the executive snap, the president mentioned that his daughter, Malia, is?a "big 'Parks and Recreation' fan," and that "having Aziz here is the only thing that she thinks is worth me doing." And then, this:

"I just want to remind him: I've got more Twitter followers than you, man," Obama said ... "I just want to keep him humble and hungry. We all need someone who does that; fortunately, I have Michelle.

Those Twitter follower numbers, in case you're wondering, are Obama, around 13M, Ansari, around 1.2M.

It was all good by Ansari, who tweeted a link to the video on YouTube, with this comment:?

Ansari's followers had his back, with supportive tweets such as these:

More twisters in forecast as survivors recount ordeal

NBC's Lester Holt reports on the destruction, while TODAY's Al Roker looks at the next severe weather system.

By NBC News, msnbc.com and news services

As towns cleaned up and survivors recalled near-death tornado?experiences, forecasters on Thursday?warned of a new round of severe weather Thursday night and Friday that could produce even more twisters.

"We've got a really bad system starting to develop, just as bad if not worse for tomorrow," NBC weather anchor Al Roker reported on the TODAY show, citing "a strong risk of storms from Huntsville, Alabama, to Indianapolis and on into?central Ohio."

Parts of Illinois and Mississippi are also at risk, he noted, and any twisters could be several miles long due to the system's strength.

Thirteen people were killed Wednesday in Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee and Kansas?by a system that spawned more than a dozen twisters across the Midwest. Hardest hit was Harrisburg, Ill., where six?people died, some 300 homes were destroyed or damaged, and residents had stories of survival and tragedy.

Son finds bodies of parents
Jeff Rann had ample warning early Wednesday. A frantic call to his wife from his mother-in-law alerted them to reports that a tornado was barreling down, and Rann heard the deafening wail of storm sirens.

Rann's home was?untouched, but just two blocks away, his parents were not as fortunate.

Rann raced through the darkness to his parents' duplex, but saw instantly there was nothing left, natural gas whistling eerily as it spewed from the property's severed meter. In the mud of a debris-strewn field, Rann found the body of his dad, 65-year-old Randy Rann, and his mother, 62-year-old Donna Rann.

"She just said, 'It hurts. It hurts,'" Rann said of his mother, who had been looking forward to early retirement next month but who died a short time later at a hospital.

The National Weather Service preliminarily listed the tornado as an EF4, the second-highest rating given to twisters based on damage. Scientists said the tornado was 200 yards wide with winds up to 180 mph.

Across the road from the Ranns, a co-worker of Donna's, Amanda Patrick, was roused by the sirens about five minutes before all hell broke loose. She called Donna Rann ? her co-worker at the U.S. Forest Service ? to alert them but got no answer, then thrust herself into a bathtub as the twister she described as sounding "like a bulldozer and Hoover vacuum at the same time" ripped through.

"Not trying to be holy, I got on my knees and said, 'God, watch over me,'" she said.

The winds shifted the tub as the walls buckled above her. In a gray T-shirt and pink-striped pajama pants, she crawled shoeless out into the rain and muck.

She called out for the Ranns but heard nothing back.

Hours later, tears streamed down Patrick's face as she grieved for the late couple.

"A couple weeks ago, there was a bad storm and I looked out the window to check on them," she said, sobbing. "Donna texted me and said, 'I saw you in the window.' She was checking on me. That's the way we were, always just looking out for each other."

This time, she said, "they didn't have a chance."

Hospital patients moved in time
At Harrisburg Medical Center, staffers were alerted to the tornado's approach by the sheriff's department some 20 minutes before the severe weather finally threw its punch, the center's CEO Vince Ashley said.

"We get these calls periodically, and often it's a false alarm," Ashley said. "But we get them often enough that everyone knows what to do."

Nurses hustled the patients into the hallways and away from their room's windows, closing the doors behind them, and were fighting to close the last of the heavy, steel fire doors at the end of the hallway when the tornado came, Ashley said. Seconds later, he said, windows started shattering, walls shook and ceiling tiles rattled.

The fierce winds blew some walls off some rooms, leaving disheveled beds and misplaced furniture but miraculously no injuries. Hours later, Ashley said some of the destroyed portions of the hospital will have to be razed and rebuilt.

Adding to the danger, it hit as many slept ? a timing research meteorologist Harold Brooks called unusual but "not completely uncommon."

Brooks, with the NOAA National Severe Storms Laboratory in Norman, Okla., said perhaps 10 percent of tornadoes happen between midnight and 6 a.m., a time when the danger level rises because the storms are harder to spot and it's harder to get the word out.

"If you're asleep, you're less likely going to hear anything, any warning message on the danger," Brooks said.

Deaths,?damage elsewhere
In southern Missouri, one person was killed in a Buffalo trailer park while two more fatalities were reported in the Cassville and Puxico areas.

A tornado hopscotched throughthe main thoroughfare of Missouri country music mecca Branson, damaging some of the city's famous theaters just days before the start of the town's crucial tourist season.

It went "bouncing from business to business to business -- tens if not hundreds of millions in property damage," Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon told NBC.

Three people were reported killed in eastern Tennessee ? two in Cumberland County and another in DeKalb County.

And in Kansas, much of tiny Harveyville was in shambles from what state officials said was an EF2 tornado packing wind speeds of 120 to 130 mph.

A man whose Harveyville home collapsed on him was taken off life support Wednesday evening.
